Our Programs

According to the LifeWays model based on Rudolf Steiner’s picture of human development, the young child learns by doing. Life is the curriculum. Life’s lessons brought in a rhythmic way supported by warm and consistent relationships provide a secure environment for children to grow at The Rose Garden.

Young children are imitative; their behaviors are informed by the behaviors of the adults around them. In awareness of the depth of children's imitation, our staff brings an uplifted picture of what it is to be human. The atmosphere is one of intentional calm, caring and confidence. Children can rely on the rhythms of the day, repetition of events, and an attitude of reverence as they develop healthy habits.  They are welcomed into a world that is good.

Dandelion and Sunflower Programs for Toddlers

It's a smooth transition for the toddler from home to a home-like environment outside the home. Parents can go where they need to go while their child has a social experience learning from caring adults and other children. Children achieve a healthy separation from parents at their own pace. They begin to build self-confidence, balance, health, and practical skills by living in a gentle rhythm. Activities include bread-baking, dish-washing, singing and creative play both indoors and out.

Details: Children in both rooms are between 18 and 36 months. The program is from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. year-round and available for 2, 3, or 5 days per week.

Rosebud and Sweet Pea Programs for 3-5 year-olds

An extension of the structured transition from home-life to school-life. Children learn through imitation, repetition, and creative play. They become accustomed to working within a group, listening to stories, interacting with a teacher, and following a daily routine. At the same time, they are aided in development as individuals through the encouragement of creative free play (indoors and outdoors), practical life skills (including gardening and baking) and artistic opportunities.

Details: Children in both rooms are three, four, and five years old. Placement of children is at the Center’s discretion based on individual needs and group dynamics. The program is available from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. year-round and available for 2, 3, or 5 days per week.
